Club History

Palomar Mountain V-8’s Regional Group 148 of the Early Ford V-8 Club of America was formed November 8, 1996.  Penfold’s Restaurant in Temecula, California was the site of the first organized meeting.  The meeting was presided over by Bud Williams, the founder and first club president.  In the first week 12 couples signed up and volunteered to fill all the positions to run this club, including our first newsletter editor, Marge Gilroy.  The object of the club is to have good fellowship and to drive our Flathead Ford automobiles.  The main activity of the group is to tour these Fords and share the Flathead Ford legacy with all interested people.  Another major object of the club is to welcome all “Flathead” Ford products including the Lincoln V-12, Mercury V8 and Ford 4 Cylinder vehicles as well as the Ford V-8’s years 1932 through 1953.  Bud Williams asked for names for the club newsletter and his suggestion of “V8 Valve Chatter” was chosen.  It was decided that it would be published monthly.  The club finalized its By Laws and became incorporated in 2001, and is now officially known as The Palomar Mountain V-8’s Regional Group 148 of the Early Ford V-8 Club of America, Inc.
